In August 2016, DC Comics is bringing something quite game-changing to the cinematic universe.
This just might be the most anticipated production since the release of “The Avengers” movies. DC’s Suicide Squad is an action-packed movie where the protagonists in the film are ironically a team of supervillains.
The trailer premiered at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con International last July. To those of you who aren’t familiar with the “Suicide Squad” or just have never in your life picked up a comic book, here’s what you need to know: The Suicide Squad (also known as Task Force X) is an antihero team of detained supervillians operating as covert assets of the US Government. In exchange for shortened prison sentences, the squad engages in deathly, black ops missions. The mastermind behind the idea of forming the band of misfits is Amanda Waller of whom the group works for.
The team consists of supervillians and antiheroes like Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Katana, Enchantress, Killer Croc, Rick Flag, Slipknot and El Diablo. The footage showed glimpses of each member’s origin story. With the anticipation of the movie, they brought Harley Quinn, one of the most famous female supervillains in pop culture today.
The trailer closed with the whimsical sound of the Joker’s laugh and a line from him that made the character no less psychotic than he already is. The trailer was the kind that lured you to keep watching but at a same time, be disturbingly fascinated by it, which is all the more reason to watch the movie once it’s released.
Typical that the trailer tried its best not to spoil so much, nonetheless you get the idea. Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the comic series to life in a live-action movie starring actors like Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne and many more. In the meantime, be sure to add this movie to your forthcoming list. Watch the trailer (if you dare) and gather your squad and grab a large bucket of popcorn, because I reckon that this movie will be worthwhile.
