We can all say that Rogue One: A Star Wars story was the most anticipated movie of 2016. It fills in the gap between Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV – A New Hope. For those of you that who are not familiar with the Star Wars movie, there are three parts of this saga. There are the original, prequel, and sequel trilogies and the anthology films. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first out of three films in the Star Wars Anthology series. This film has received generally positive reviews, with praise for its acting, action sequences, musical score and its darker tone. It has also grossed over $988.1 million worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of 2016.
Personally, this movie suits anyone who has interest towards the saga or not. It is the movie that will blow your mind because of the dramatic music that supports the scene and ambience of the rebellions that are trying to destroy the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon. Not only that, Felicity Jones’ heroine character Jyn Erso is just another classic Star Wars female leads, like Carrie Fisher or Daisy Ridley that embodies the rebellious personality that all of them has.
The touch of comedy from K-2SO, a reprogrammed Empire droid, voiced by Alan Tudyk is a very nice touch to the intense ambience the film has. The droid is a dapper version of the famous C-3PO that can be found in all of the 8 movies that has been released so far. C-3PO also made a cameo with R2-D2 in less than 10 seconds in Rogue One (sorry for the spoiler for those of you who haven’t watched it!). It was a comforting moment when we saw the two beloved droids in the movie. Princess Leia also made an appearance at the end of the movie.
The 133-minute-long movie is a gorgeous, adrenaline-rushed, nostalgic piece that brings us back to the golden days — and well worth a few hours of your time.
