Kanye West’s collaboration with adidas Originals entitled “Yeezy Season One” during New York Fashion Week.
The show was a star-studded affair, attendees included Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Rihanna among many. Models for the show include Ian Connor and rising star Luka Sabbat.
The show began in pitch black with an intro by none other than Kanye himself. He expressed his opinions surrounding the collection and how the launch of the collection is a stepping stone towards a new era of creative freedom. A trumpet started playing and the lights were turned one afterwards. The lights revealed a stage in simple grayscale design and models in rows of five were revealed wearing Kanye’s full collection.
The front row stood on the stage for a few moments letting the audience observe the collection abandoning the traditional catwalk practice. The rows started to change to until Kanye’s new single with Sia and Vic Mensa entitled Wolves was played. The show finished with Kanye walking to the front stage in a black hoodie bowing before the audience.
The collection featured the Yeezy Boost, the limited edition trainer-boot that includes Adidas’ exceptional bouncy sole. The bumpy surface of the Boost is wrapped in a ribbed plastic sole, whilst the upper section is made of grey suede, with fabric strap across the front and lace-ups reminiscent of hiking boots. Adidas said that the pieces in the collection would create a wardrobe of essential pieces that would "absolve consumers of dressing's daily stress" by offering simple items that could be appropriate in a wide variety of situations and "freely combined in infinite ways".
The collection is currently available to preorder in North America through the Adidas Confirmed App. However, a global release date is slated at February 28th available at Adidas stores and other select trailers. Prices start at US$350.
Feeding the hunger of fashion enthusiasts and shoppers, Mandiri's Pasar Indonesia and Bazaar Fashion Festival has caught people's attention with their vast compilation of fashion shows by renowned and upcoming designers and the big number of stores there.
The event was held from the 22nd-26th of October, 2014 at Jakarta Convention Center.
Many big designers, such as Biyan Wanaatmadja, Sebastian Gunawan, Eddy Betty, Oscar Lawalata and even some young designers like Barli Asmara, have showcased their work through fashion shows, fashion presentations, or IPMI Trendshow.
I attended two fashion shows: Oscar Lawalata's I Am O and Fashion First, a label consisting the works of a couple of local designers. These two shows are completely different from each other as the designers took very different look on their way of self expressions.
The Fashion First show was very diverse in itself because each designer used different cities of the world as their inspiration for the clothing line; while Oscar Lawalata themed his designs on ethnic tribal designs.
Other than the fashion shows, there are many stores that opened a kiosk, ranging from clothes to food. Though most of the payment for food can only be done with Mandiri cards, it was worth the struggle for non-Mandiri card owners.
This event is also a source of opportunity for you who wants to meet various celebrities. At I Am O fashion show, I sat across Dian Sastro (#aadcforlyf). It's an event I recommend you go to next year.
